Bumper Sticker Theology

Today as I drove home I noticed a bumper sticker on the truck in front of me.  Its message was direct, saying something like:

If you ignore JESUS
there will be Hell to pay.

Hmm.  Theologically speaking, yes, it's true.  However, I'm not a fan of using Hell (Tartarus/Gehenna) in a provocative manner for shock effect.  The word, let alone the place, isn't a bit funny and it shouldn't be used flippantly.  I have no reason to consider that the person who stuck it to his vehicle had anything but a sincere desire to get sinners to be taken aback and reflect on eternity.  But I find it tacky.

However, if one soul ever took pause when he read it then I can thank God for that.
